Desperate Housewives: 4.08 Casting Sides...
Note: For the record I watch DH most of the time but not all of it, so the names are unfamiliar to me. If these are one of those change the names to fool them sides I am going to bet that Randy is Orson and Karen is Bree. First of all, Karen speaks like Bree in the dialogue. Second, Randy refers to Lucy and Lucy and never once as "my daughter". It could be Susan and Mike, BUT Susan is pregnant and wouldn't go physically throwing a young man around.
Barrett is seemingly a clean-cut young medical student, but in reality he is Randy's drug dealer. Randy walks in to the house to find Barrett at Karen's kitchen table chatting with her. Karen informs Randy that she paid Barrett for the job that he did for Randy (she does not know that he owed Randy for drugs) and that Barrett is about to take Lucy on a coffee date. While Karen goes to check on Lucy, Randy confronts Barrett and tells him he will not let him near Karen or Lucy. When Barrett taunts him, since to do that he would have to reveal his secret, Randy pushes him up against the wall. Karen comes down, horrified at Randy's actions saying that there's no excuse for physical violence. Randy decides its better to protect Lucy than himself, and tells Karen who Barrett truly is. For someone who was against physical violence, Karen is no slouch herself and physically pushes Barrett around and out the door. As Lucy comes down the stairs completely confused, Barrett tells Lucy that her family is pyscho. Karen informs him that if he wants to see psycho, come back.
Sylvia - A woman who knows Tom. They are meeting at the restaurant, and Tom did not tell Lynette about the meeting. It seems that Tom kissed Sylvia, and while Sylvia thought it meant something Tom explains to her that he kissed back to make her feel better since she was so depressed at the time. Sylvia balks at the idea that it was pity, and leaves.
Det. Metzer and Det Coppedge - He comes to Edie's house to question her about Carlos' disappearance. Edie tells them that Carlos disappeared two days ago, and that she told him that she was leaving and he was depressed about it. It seems that they found his abandoned boat, but oddly enough no fingerprints so Carlos had to be on that boat with someone. They also found a high-quality cashmere scarf on the boat. (Note - while there are two sets of sides, the dialogue is EXACTLY the same on both. Normally when they do this they will have two detectives in this scene sharing the dialogue, OR they do not want to reveal anything huge in the sides so they just let the actors read from the less spoilerish ones)

Private Practice: 1.06 Casting Sides...
"In Which Charlotte goes down the rabbit hole"...
Tess, Marilyn, Social Worker, Judge, Lawyer - Tess is a 13 year-old patient of Gerald's (given the age it has to be Cooper) and her mother Marilyn who has MS is a patient of Jeff's (could be Sam's patient, or if they are playing around with the gender here, Charlotte). Unfortunately, Gerald begins to suspect child abuse since Tess has come in with injuries that could not have happened accidentally and calls in the authorities. Jeff is outraged, feeling that Gerald HAS to be wrong since he knows Marilyn and cannot imagine her doing something like that especially since Tess denies it herself.
The Social Worker tells the two doctors that the hearing is set. Jeff asks what happens to Marilyn if Tess is taken away, since she really cannot be alone (and what happens when Tess goes to school? I'm just asking) The Social Worker politely tells him that her office is there to protect Tess, not her mother.
Outside the hearing room, Tess confronts Gerald and asks him what he intends to say. Tess admits that her mother hits her sometimes, but Tess is still sympathetic since she understands that her mother is angry at her condition and the world. She also feels guilty since she knows her mother needs her. Gerald tells her that even if her mother is hurting she has no right to hurt HER. Tess is disappointed. During the hearing the judge and lawyer run the hearing, and Gerald testifies that Tess' injuries could not have happened accidentally. After the hearing Marilyn looks for sympathy from Jeff, but instead gets anger.

Boston Legal: 4.09 Casting Sides...
"No Brains Left Behind"...
Hey folks! Let me just say this. If you have a student in the public school system in the U.S. WATCH THIS EPISODE! I used to be a teacher, and let me tell you this is part of the reason why I no longer am.
Nan Goody: An expert from National Geographic who testifies on behalf of Marlena. It seems that they did a study to evaluate American students' geographical literacy in comparison to other nations' and llet me be honest - my fellow Americans, we suck.
Marlena and Principal Jason Daniels - Marlena is Schmidt's granddaughter who has taken to heart the quote "travel is so broadening". Well, it seems Marlena spent a year studying in England and found that she felt like an idiot compared to her better educated English peers (DarkUFO - don't get cocky there!). So, when she returned to the states she decided to figure out why, and she found that the schools' dependency on federal grants which under "No Child Left Behind" are given out based on their standardized test scores. While her research and analysis are dead on accurate, her reaction is not. She becomes angry at the principal, shreds the tests in his office, and throws the confetti around. Due to this polite protest, she is being expelled.
Well, the first meeting between Principal Daniels, Schmidt, Marlena, and Whitney does not go well. Schmidt's pleas for mercy since her granddaughter is contrite kind of get killed when the little darling tells the principal she was actually angry at him and wanted to shred him but decided on the tests instead (good thing or else this would be Criminal Minds and not Boston Legal). The principal for some crazy reason does not think this is a good enough apology and tells them that the expulsion stands. Whitney then informs him that they will take him to court and make a fool out of him for being part of a system that is raising a nation of idiots (this from a woman who works with a law firm of idiots). It's on!
In Judge Fisher's courtroom Marlena gives her side of the story, and she does have a right to be frustrated I'll admit. However, the testimony that is truly heartwrenching is Daniels'. He's not a man who doesn't care. He's man who cannot run his school properly and for the best interests of the students due to the very same policies that Marlena states. The tragedy is that these two are on opposite sides of the desk, and yet fighting the same system.
Officer Taylor Jessel - Speaking of idiots, Crane and Shore try to sign up for the National Guard only to be told that they are too old. They balk at this idea, giving proof that even though they are over the maximum age of 42 they are physically able to do the job (hey! They have lots of sex and their asses haven't sagged). Even given these compelling reasons, Jessel refuses to sign them up.
Bert Mcadams - I am not sure if this scene comes before the one with Officer Jessel, so its not clear what came first. He walks in and Mutt and Jeff....sorry, I mean Crane and Shore, are playing on their Wii system. It seems that Crane is suing Mcadams because he drove an hour to the shore to get some of Mcadams' famous pizza only to find that the store was closed. It seems the man had the audacity to close when flooding wrecked his store. Mcadams is in disbelief, saying that it wasn't his fault. However, the attorneys are more than happy to offer him a solution - sue the National Guard for not helping him .

Smallville: 7.09 Spoilers...
"Gemini" is not so much of a holiday episode per se, though story elements pertaining to the holidays do occur this time around. It's a backgound part of the story kind of like how the holidays fit in to the first Die Hard or Lethal Weapon movies. There are some very big revelations in this episode, including the return of a foe from the past. (No, not Brainiac - he's coming later.) Look for some changes for at least one of Smallville's Season 7 couples in this one. (For those of you keeping track at home, those couples include Clark/Lana, Lois/Grant, Chloe/Jimmy, and Jimmy/Kara.)

Bionic Woman stronger than Private Practice...
The hype surrounding NBC's re-imagined series, Bionic Woman, has done well for the show, as its premiere beat tough competition in the forms of Private Practice, Criminal Minds, Kitchen Nightmares and Gossip Girl.
Bionic Woman earned a 5.5 rating among adults 18-49, beating the premiere of the new ABC medical drama, which earned a 5.1. So far, Bionic Woman is the highest-rated new series to debut this fall, and the highest-rated Wednesday-night series premiere for the Peacock since The West Wing debuted in 1999. Additionally, the NBC series won the 9-10pm timeslot despite having a weaker lead-in than Private Practice.
Criminal Minds experienced a 22 percent drop from last year, earning only a 3.5 rating. Kitchen Nightmares went down 22 percent in its second week with a 2.4, while Gossip Girl fell 25 percent with a 1.2.
Bionic Woman served as a strong lead-in for the cop drama, Life, which earned an impressive 4.1 rating. The figure was enough to capture Life the top spot for the hour, beating the season premieres of CBS' CSI: NY and the debut of ABC's Dirty Sexy Money.
ABC won the hour prior to Bionic Woman, with the results show for Dancing with the Stars earning a 4.0 rating. The reality competition topped CBS' Kid Nation, NBC's Deal or No Deal, FOX's half-hour comedies, Back to You and ‘Til Death, and The CW's America's Next Top Model.
Overall, ABC was the big winner Wednesday night, though it edged out NBC by only a tenth of a point. The top two networks were, in order, followed by CBS, FOX and The CW. Moreover, ABC's Private Practice topped Bionic Woman in terms of overall audience.
Bionic Woman is a reimagining of the 1970s series starring Lindsay Wagner. The new Jamie Sommers is played by Michelle Ryan, most known for her role on the British soap opera, EastEnders. The cast also includes Molly Price (Third Watch), Will Yun Lee, Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica), Isaiah Washington (Grey's Anatomy), Lucy Hale (How I Met Your Mother, The O.C.), Chris Bowers (Rescue Me), Miguel Ferrer (Crossing Jordan) and Mark Sheppard.
Bionic Woman airs Wednesdays at 9pm on NBC.

CSI: Jorja Fox talks about leaving...
There was much speculation about whether or not Sara Sidle would make it out alive from her encounter with CSI's Miniature Killer. While the season premiere answered that question, the resolution was overshadowed by word that despite surviving, Sara is still not long for the CSI world…because Jorja Fox, the actress who plays her, will be leaving CSI.
Although it hasn't been definitively confirmed, multiple sources have said that she will be leaving the show this November, after failing to arrive at a resolution for a new contract. Fox herself was relatively cagey in response to questions about the matter, but did recently provide some insight into the plans for her character.
Her final show is said to air November 9, in an episode titled "Hello Goodbye." While Fox's ability to give details is limited since she is still under contract, she does give a few teasers as to how the relationship between Sara and Grissom will develop during these last few episodes with her.
She told TV Guide, “There's going to be a wealth of information that we're going to find out about Sara and Grissom in season 8. We shot five episodes so far, and I think it's going to be a really exciting, interesting season. The writers have done a phenomenal job. There have been so many twists and turns already, and little bombs that we've dropped, I'm already blown away. I'm like, ‘Where's this going? We're only in episode 5.'”
CSI producers have said that their story would conclude this season, but Jorja Fox doesn't exactly agree. She said, “I can't contradict what one of our producers said, but I can only tell you from my experience, I don't think you're going to get that. This might sound vain, but the story of Sara and Grissom is a little like a fable. And most great fables don't really have 100 percent resolution.”
It sounds as though her departure is a done deal, but she was also fired from and rehired to the show in 2004, so who knows? Maybe there is a chance that Sara Sidle will also escape from this untimely departure from the CSI world.

Las Vegas: Creator Gary Thompson Interview...
Hi, this is John from Buddy TV, and we're talking to Gary Scott Thompson, the executive producer and creator of the NBC series Las Vegas. How are you doing, Gary?
I'm great, thanks.
OK now, your show is about to enter its fifth season. When you started, were you expecting it to last this long?
Not to sound arrogant, but that's always the plan, to get it to 100 episodes. At the time I actually thought we had something that wasn't on the air, that no one was doing. It was five seasons ago, so there was a lot of procedural dramas, a lot of cop stories. There was no one who was really doing anything fun, that was just fun and funny, and just pure entertainment. I thought we had a good shot.
And before you started on television, you were involved in feature films, you wrote The Fast and the Furious. What brought you to television?
Actually, TV came looking for me, to tell you the truth. After The Fast and the Furious…actually, I'll back that up. I had been approached by TV for a number of years and had really avoided it, just because of the hours. The hours in TV are extremely long, and it's basically a 24/7 job, and I had little kids and just really didn't think that was fair to them. I wanted to be there and see them take their first steps, and just take them to school and do all those great things. And so I avoided it for a number of years, until my kids got into school. And then after The Fast and the Furious, sort of the offers were fast and furious. Every studio in town wanted to develop something with me for TV, and I had a great relationship with the people at NBC, and that sort of happened.
When Las Vegas eventually runs its course, would you ever want to do television again? Or have you been turned off the medium?
No, I love the medium, I've always been a TV addict, even as a kid, I remember it was the greatest thing in the world. My mother, I'd come home from school I'd turn on the TV and she would yell at me and say I'd never get anywhere in life if I sit around and watching TV all day, which I remind her of constantly.
As an executive producer and creator of the show, what exactly do you do on the show? Because the writer and the director and the actor, that's all clear. But executive producer, a lot of people are unclear on what that person does.
As an exec producer on a show, and in this case it's called a show runner, where you're in charge of everything. You're in charge of budgets, you're in charge of casting. You're in charge of hiring the directors, hiring the writers, overseeing every script, making sure that all the voices are correct, and dealing with the actors, dealing with the production. Basically everything you could think of. I also write and I also direct, so I'm involved in all facets of those. The biggest thing I think as the show runners are making sure that the scripts are uniform, that the voices are always constant. That the storylines actually make sense, and that they are consistent throughout the entire season. And then you go into the editing room and do all the cuts.
Obviously the big change with the new season that everyone's talking about is the departure of James Caan, one of the show's stars and being replaced by Tom Selleck. How did that all come about?
Well, I don't like to use the word “replaced,” because first of all, I don't think you can replace Jimmy Caan, and second he's not replacing in terms of the same character doing the same thing. Tom Selleck's coming in as the new owner of the Montecito. As our loyal fans know, we sort of have a problem with our owners. They fly off the roofs of buildings, they get eaten by giant squids, they end up in prison for doing bad things. So it'll be interesting to see if Mr. Selleck's character, A.J. Cooper can stay around longer than the previous owners. In terms of Jimmy's departure, he just wanted to go off and do features again, and four years is a lifetime in this business. Especially with someone who's sort of, I guess for lack of a better word, approaching the end of his career. And that's only because age-wise, as we grow we start to lose out on job. I think Jimmy just really wanted to go off and do features again before he felt he couldn't. He'd taken himself out of them for four entire years, and as I said, this town has a very short-term memory. I think he just wanted to jump back in while he could.
Definitely. And I'm just wondering with getting Tom Selleck, when you realized, “We need a new owner for the Montecito.” Was there a big casting process? Did you figure in and say, “Tom Selleck, that's the guy we want.” Or how did that work?
Yeah, it was pretty much that. There was no big casting processs. When word started to come down, I mean what happened with Jimmy is every year he'd say, “Hey Gar, I got this offer to do a feature, can I do it?” And I'm like, “You can't, because we're…first season we had 23 episodes, second season 24.” You're talking about 10 months out of a year, which is a very small window then to do a feature. Features are anywhere from 30 days to 120 days, and to try and fit them in is pretty tough. And so when Jimmy said “I want to go back and do features,” and we realized that we'd be losing him as well, as we lost Nikki Cox too.
The only one that really came to my mind and one of my casting directors, Camille Patton and my wife, I'll have to give her credit too, was Tom Selleck. All three of us sort of came to the conclusion at the same time, and my wife and my casting director kind of called me within seconds of each other, and said, “Hey, Tom Selleck. Now that's easy to say, but to actually get the man was very difficult, considering he hasn't been a series regular since Magnum [P.I.]. So we floated it out there to his people, and I don't know why, but Tom just called me out of the blue one day and said, “Hey, I'd like to come in and talk you about this.” It was very interesting, because this call and he was like, “Hey Gary, this is Tom Selleck.” And I'm like, “Ooh, cool.” So he came in, and we sat and talked for probably about 14 or 15 hours over seven or eight days. Two hours at a time every day, and just sort of talked through what the show was, what the new character was. And Tom's been very crucial in sort of defining and coming up and helping with who this character is. When you bring someone in new like that, when you're talking about the fifth season of a show, they better be very good.
Exactly. And how is the rest of the cast? Because a lot of people who've been there since the beginning, how do they deal with such a huge shuffle of the stars?
I think that they were a little surprised at first, possibly that there was gonna be a big shuffle. They understand it, people come and people go on TV. They've seen it happen on shows that they liked, the revolving doors on Law and Order and ER, and other shows that are on NBC. It's very common, they knew from day one that this could potentially happen. Especially with someone like Jimmy who's a big movie star, and they also because they're here everyday, know what a grind this is, know how hard it is. Every one of them has had feature offers that they had to turn down, because they couldn't do it. So they know that he's had a lot more because of who he is.
So I think they really understood it, I think it might have been a little bit of a shock at the beginning. But then they understood it, then when they heard Tom Selleck was potentially coming, and once we'd got him signed they were like, “Are you kidding me? How did you get him?” So they were very excited about it. And what it does is really sort of inject new life into the show, because you have not just a new cast member, you have a new actor. A new person, a new persona. I mean, Tom Selleck is a TV icon, and so I think everyone's excited about that. And to a person, all of our remaining cast members, not one of their mothers has been more excited than the other. I mean, the moms are so excited about this. Molly's mom, Josh's mom, like “Oh my God, it's Tom Selleck.” So it's been really good.
With the new season, the new dynamic, can you give our readers anything to look forward to? Are there any big things going on in Las Vegas this year?
Yeah. Where we left off last year was a massive cliffhanger, with every character potentially in jeopardy. We had Vanessa Marcil's character Sam being kidnapped, put in a truck and flown away by one of her whales, Vince Peterson. We had James Lesure's character Mike Cannon chasing after her at the airport. We had Nikki Cox's character Mary Connell at a bar, potentially shooting her father with Josh Duhamel's character, Danny McCoy. And with Jimmy Caan's character Ed Deline, all three of them potentially killing Mary's father. And then we had Molly Sims' character DeLinda Deline in a suite with one of Danny's buddies from the Marine Corps, who has a bomb. There's been an explosion at the end of the season, and that's where we sort of left off. So to say that there's gonna be some changes would be an understatement.
So we've picked up right where we left off, I mean literally, the two seasons overlap each other. It's a fantastic two-hour season premiere, and we premiere on September 28 at 9 on Friday night. And then we're moving to a new time slot at 10 on Friday nights, which I think is gonna be great for the show, because It allows us to push the envelope a little bit more.
But we've got the Danny and DeLinda relationship where we left off, DeLinda's pregnant and Danny doesn't know it. We don't know who killed Mary's father, we don't know if Sam's gonna survive or what's gonna happen to Sam up in this plane with her whale. So that's where we take off, and then also we have the whole thing with the character played by Dean Cain, who's the previous owner. Casey Manning, who was eaten by a giant squid, has left $241 million in back taxes to be paid by his ex-wife Vanessa Marcil, who plays Sam. And she's trying to figure out some way to buy the place, so her and Ed Deline are trying to buy the Montecito, and that's where Tom Selleck's character comes in. He's the new owner, and we see what he's done. So obviously we have a hole in the side of the building, and have to deal with that, and then we have a new owner. And he may decide some people need to stay, and some need to go.
That's definitely a lot to be handling, especially as a show runner. To be juggling that many balls in the air all at the same time, it should be very interesting to see how all those things are resolved.
It's a lot of fun, the season's coming along…we started very early, so we've already shot 11 episodes. We start to shoot our 12th episode, which is a Christmas special, tomorrow morning. And so to really see how this cast, the new cast I guess we'll call it, sort of gels. It's no, I mean as no slight to anyone who's ever been here, but Tom Selleck fits in so well it's as if he's been here from the very beginning, and it's such a strange thing to see. And within three or four minutes of him showing onscreen, you kind of go like, “Wow, it's like he was always here.”

The Office: 4.01 "Fun Run' Recap...
It's been four months since Jim burst in on Pam's confessional in last season's finale in order to ask her out to dinner. In its season premiere, fans of The Office were finally clued in to what happened after that brief conversation. This bit of drama, however, still did not get in the way of the usual antics to be expected from the NBC sitcom. Michael Scott continues to embarrass himself in new ways, Dwight is as horrendously inappropriate as ever, and Toby is still as underappreciated as Creed is creepy.
In the beginning of the episode we are treated to a snapshot of Michael's personal life. His former boss, Jan, has moved in with him and is still unemployed. Then, like he has so many times before, Michael reflects on his personal life to the camera during his morning drive to the office. This potential life lesson is cut short, however, when he inadvertently strikes one of his employees, Meredith, with his car in the Dunder-Mifflin parking lot.
As we enter the building for the first time of the season, Jim recaps what has transpired during the months we missed. He and Karen have broken up and, despite her insistence on continuing her career, she has mysteriously vanished. He and Pam are getting together quite well and Pam mentions how happy she is to have her friend back. Both employees insist that they are single and not dating anyone, but certain staff members, namely the immature Kevin, have their suspicions.
Michael soon announces to the rest of his staff the tragedy that he has caused. As the rest of the staff express both concern for Meredith and awe at Michael's actions, Dwight attempts to comfort his mentor. Michael is then forced to call his new boss, Ryan, who also happens to be his former intern.
Meanwhile, Pam tries to rally the staff to visit Meredith in the hospital. As she tries to recruit the aid of Angela, she learns that Angela's cat, Sprinkles, is sick and needs tending to. Pam, while dodging a series of awkward questions from Kevin, reminds Angela of her professional duty as head of the party planning committee and convinces her to take the lead in arranging the hospital visit. Angela is then forced to send her secret boyfriend, Dwight, to her home to take care of the sick Sprinkles.
Michael invites himself to the hospital along with the staff and Meredith soon awakes to an awkward gathering of her co-workers. After Michael attempts to milk an apology from the injured employee and Creed quizzes her about what pain medications she is taking, the staff leaves at Meredith's insistence.
Back at the office, a barely sympathetic Dwight informs Angela that her cat has died and is currently being kept in the freezer to prevent it from smelling. This news prompts Michael to believe that the building is cursed so he quickly holds a staff meeting to address this latest dilemma. As should be expected, Michael quickly steers the meeting towards the direction of the most inappropriate of subjects, asking the staff about their religious beliefs and making sure no one has performed any sacrilegious rituals that may lead to the newfound curse upon the building.
After the meeting we see Pam heading out the building as Kevin hides in his car, hoping to find evidence proving the secret relationship between Jim and Pam. After seeing her drive off alone in her car, however, he gives up and heads back to the building, seemingly accepting that his hunches were wrong after all.
Fortunately for us, the camera crew is a little more persistent and follows Pam down the street where she discreetly pulls over to let an enthusiastic Jim run into the car and greet her with a kiss. Soon after, the camera crew presents their incriminating footage to the secret couple and Pam, with some restrained glee, admits that they are dating but have not told anyone.
Meanwhile, Angela confides in Pam her suspicion that Dwight may have killed her cat. Apparently the cat was found in the freezer, as Dwight had said, but the contents of the freezer were covered with claw marks showing signs of a possible struggle. Angela tries to turn to Pam for support but quickly dismisses her after Pam claims to be a “dog person.”
Dwight, who had missed the initial hospital visit to take care of Angela's cat, then goes to the hospital to visit Meredith. He discovers that Meredith was actually infected with rabies and she was lucky to be admitted to the hospital before she showed any symptoms. Dwight brings this news back to his boss and Michael decides to hold a fundraiser in the form of a 5K Fun Run in order to raise money for the research and treatment of rabies.
The fundraiser is quickly on its way as Michael has his employees raise funds over the phone as he Jim, Dwight and Pam plan the race. After raising $700, Michael spends $200 of it creating a giant check and another $260 on a stripper dressed as a nurse to receive the giant check in the opening ceremony.
Soon, the race begins. Michael, after scarfing down a fettuccini alfredo right before the race in order to carbo-load, is off to a quick start but eventually slows down due to his full stomach and his refusal to drink water throughout the day. Dwight eventually admits to killing Angela's cat, claiming that it was out of mercy and, as a farmer, he grew up with the belief that putting an animal out of its misery was the noble thing to do. Jim and Pam intentionally fall behind deciding to use the race as an opportunity to spend some private time together, walking through the neighborhoods and visiting a garage sale. Toby ends up being the strong winner but finds little reception at the finish line where Kelly is too busy texting her friends to congratulate him.
In the end, Michael finds himself unable to finish the race until Jim and Pam finally make their way to him and manage to deliver a timely pep talk, giving him the motivation to finish the race before promptly vomiting on the finish line. He is eventually admitted to the hospital with a case of dehydration where he is able to make amends with Meredith
The season premier proved that The Office shows no sign of running out of comedic material and has the potential to continue as one of the cleverest comedies on air. However, with the fairly anti-climactic resolution to the Jim/Pam relationship, it seems that the flirtatious glances and inside jokes that made the two so fun and adorable as friends apparently make them somewhat annoying as a couple. The show will likely continue to be as funny and witty as it ever has been, but without the “will they, won't they” drama of the previous seasons, can it remain as addictive week to week as it was before?

Heroes: Star denies dating rumour...
The actor, who plays Ando Masahashi on the NBC drama, insisted that 18-year-old Hayden (Claire Bennet) and 30-year-old Milo (Peter Petrelli) would not consider getting together because of the age gap between them.
"The rumour is not true. Let's just end it there," James is quoted by WENN as saying.
"I think we were just surprised because they're 12 years apart - for people to even conceive that. I know there have been a lot of jokes, Hayden turning 18 and what-not. At some point, you just have to let it go, and respect their privacy."

Nip/Tuck: Sharon Gless joins cast...
Sources confirm to me exclusively that FX's slice-and-dice drama has sewn up two-time Emmy winner Sharon Gless for a four-episode arc to air during the show's upcoming fifth season (launching Oct. 30). The ex-Cagney & Lacey star will play Colleen Rose, an all-business talent agent who sets her sights on Sean. No, not romantically &mdas; professionally; she wants to represent him. (Although in the Nip/Tuck universe, the thought of Sharon Gless and Dylan Walsh having sex doesn't seem so strange. Icky? Yes. Strange? Nah.)
Gless' Nip/Tuck duties won't interfere with her costarring role on Burn Notice; production on the second season of the USA Network smash doesn't start up until mid-January, long after Gless' Nip/Tuck episodes are in the can.

Heroes: Adrian Pasdar on his role...
"It's good to be the king," crowed Greg Grunberg of the Heroes cast's Hot status. "The hottest person in Hollywood, that's what it feels like. For us to be here, it's huge. It means that people watch the show, and that's great."
Pasdar and Grunberg told how they were "mobbed" during their recent world promotional tour. "They had this little mall thing and 500 people were supposed to come," Grunberg said. "Ten thousand people showed up! And kids were getting trampled. I was literally yelling for people to stop, it was crazy."
"It's not just a show that's premiering in America anymore, it's international," said Pasdar. "It's the sense of hope and optimism that's bringing people in and keeping them."
Grunberg had a different theory about why people are tuning in: "Hayden's hot!"
They both pooh-poohed the rumors about a romance between 18-year-old Hayden Panetierre and 30-year-old Milo Ventimiglia. "They're friends. We were in Europe together and I'm kind of a surrogate dad to her and anything inappropriate would not have happened on my watch," said Pasdar. He added that if it had, "I would have had to sit them both down and talk to them."
David Anders, who plays the legendary (if surprisingly non-heroic) samurai Takezo Kensei, sports a British accent on the show, as he did on Alias. "My storyline with Masi Oka is kind of the comic relief in the premiere," he said, adding, "It's fun."
Learning Japanese for the role is "difficult," he admits. "When I do a take, I ask, 'Did I get it?' I have a great Japanese coach but then there's Masi telling me a different way! It gets a little confusing." He confirmed he's a regular this season.
Shalim Ortiz plays the new character, Alejandro, who's on the run with his twin sister. The actor has been sworn to secrecy about upcoming plotlines, but assures that Alejandro does have a power and we will find out "very soon" what that is, promising that "our twin connectivity does play a part."

CSI: Season 8 Premieres tonight...
'CSI' Season 8 Premieres Tonight
September 27, 2007
William Petersen as Grissom on the seventh season finale of CSIThe seventh season finale of CBS' CSI left fans wondering about the fate of Sara Sidle (Jorja Fox), as she was last seen trapped underneath an overturned red Ford Mustang in the middle of the desert. The network and the actors have been very quiet about the particular storyline, but tonight, viewers will finally have their questions answered, as the hit crime series is set to premiere its latest season.
According to CBS, the season 8 opener, entitled “Dead Doll,” will feature the team scrambling to find out if Sara survived the attack by the miniature killer. Although this short preview doesn't really add anything to what fans already know, executive producer Naren Shankar says they will not be left hanging this time around.
"Let's just say fans will be very satisfied with how it turns out," Shankar told TV Guide. "No loose ends will be left dangling at the end of the first episode."
For those unfamiliar with CSI, the previous season ender revealed Natalie Davis (Jessica Collins), the foster daughter of Ernie Dell, to be the miniature killer. Initially, Grissom (William Petersen) and the team believed Ernie to be the serial murderer. As they were on their way to arrest him, Ernie, in an effort to end the pursuit and protect Natalie, killed himself. Natalie, holding Grissom responsible for her father's death, went after Sara, the person Grissom cares about the most.
While viewers will have to wait a few more hours to see whether Sara lives or die, speculations leaning towards the latter have been fueled by several factors. For one, TV Guide's Tim Holland pointed out in his CSI show blog that the episode title, “Dead Doll” serves as a hint, as it is in complete contrast to the seventh season finale title, “Living Doll.”
The addition of a new female character has also led many to think Sara will indeed bite the dust. The new character, Ronnie, to be played by Jessica Lucas, will begin appearing on CSI by the third episode.
On the more technical side of things, Shankar said that for the first episode of season 8, set designers built a full-scale replica of the miniature crime scene Natalie left for Grissom.
"The actors were as impressed as anybody by what we built," Shankar told TV Guide. "They came back from their time off and went, ‘Holy crap!' Everybody was pretty knocked out by this."
The eighth season of CSI premieres tonight at 9pm on CBS.

Prison Break: Sona boring?...
Here's what the guy said:
Sona just isn't scary....infact it's boring!
I mean, at the end of last season when they showed Sona, it looked like a SCARY place. It was dark, there were junkies, transvestite-looking dudes, and they were all Spanish/black looking. It looked like a place where any man would break down and cry and you wouldn't think any less of him.
Now when they show Sona, it just looks like a 'fun' place, aside from the lack of food. I mean, nobody in there is really 'scary' like they were in the season 2 finale, there are many white people, everyone speaks English, no threats of rape, etc... It's just not a scary place. If it wasn't for Bellick, nobody in that prison would still be getting 'harsh' treatment by anybody.
I kept picturing Michael, Mahone, Bellick, and (eventually) T-Bag being the only white/English speakers, being outnumbered and constantly fearing for their lives... but now, the place is like one big joke, and it is WAY too 'friendly'. Where is the aggression that was always present in Fox River? You had scary people like T-Bag, Avocado, the guy who was messing with Bellick in season 2, etc... Now, it's like some sort of retirement home, and they even plan out their fights. There's no stabbing in the back, rapes, cutting off of limbs, etc.
And here's how Nick Santora responded:
To respond to the poster who finds Sona boring:
If it was just like Fox River, THAT would be boring. It is a small city, run by a dictator (Lechero) where people can be forced to fight to the death at a minutes notice simply because someone has a grudge against you. Unlike Fox River, there are no guards to stop the fighting, no guards to protect you. If you find that boring, which you have every right to do, I have no advice to give. The show is what we made it. I hope you give it a chance and keep watching.
So what do you guys think???

Prison Break: Episode 6 to be the BEST...
Also, I rarely say stuff like this, but EPISODE 6 of this season is by far one of the best Prison Break episodes ever. It hits every note a PB episode needs to hit .. and the way it ends … just let me say you will never look at Michael Scofield the same way again. It is incredible … a great job all around from the entire PB team. It is already in my top 5 favorite eps of all time.
Seriously, i can't wait for episode 6 now...

Prison Break: Nick Santora on T-Bag...
Glad you all enjoyed the show. As for T-Bag, he was caught, if you recall, after he fled from a murder scene (the hooker that Bellick was also arrested for killing) — the cops were chasing after our heros after they fled from that murder scene and they eventually tracked them down to the cabin where they found T-Bag nailed to the floor by Michael’s knife. The Panamanian justice system is “shoot ‘em all now, sort ‘em out later” so T-Bag, like Bellick, is waiting for their trial date so the prosecutors can figure out who killed who and when and why and etc. It can be up to 2 years before your first preliminary hearing so an innocent person could sit in Sona for years until they even get to provide their side of the story.

Prison Break: Nick Santora on Season 3...
I am glad you are all enjoying the show and that it reminds you of the action of Season 1. As for requests that we clarify what is going on with Dr. Tancredi … we will … through the show. Not through the press. Not through the internet. Our job as writer/producers is to make a great story and present it. If we were to tell viewers what was going to happen, out of order, it would defeat the entire purpose of making the show. Not a single writer on the show wants to spend 15 hours a day breaking stories, making sure they are as good as they can be, writing and re-writing, to just turn around and reveal what is going to happen before anyone watches it. Imagine you spend months planning a surprise party for someone — everything is perfect — balloons, gifts, decorations, guests — would you, on the way into the party room, turn to your friend and say: “Oh yeah, I’ve been working really hard on a surprise for you — and this is it — there is a party for you on the other side of the door.” No one would do that. So we sure won’t. It’s not because we aren’t “nice” as has been suggested. We are very nice people. We just don’t have the desire to ruin what we have created by revealing it out of order. It is a story. You don’t read the last page of the book when you are on a middle chapter. And then there is this other issue — we’d all lose our job if we divulged anything. So please, for the sake of ending this debate forever, if you watch the show you will find out where the Dr. Tancredi character is, has been, and what, if anything, happens to her. And whatever that information is, the show will still kick ass. So please, sit back, relax and enjoy the show. We appreciate all of you guys, all of the fans of PB, and we work hard to entertain you. We hope you continue to enjoy Season 3 as much as you have been enjoying it so far.

Scrubs: Latest from Ausiello...
Ausiello: Bill Lawrence is promising a slight shift in tone for the show's final season. "We're reverting back to some of the earlier seasons in that the really broad and goofy stuff will happen only in fantasy," he says. "I think it's really important that people give a s--t emotionally about the characters, so they go back to being really grounded. The first couple years had a lot more dramatic elements, and we're doing that a lot more." Also, look for J.D. to finally grow the hell up. "Zach Braff has essentially been playing a man-child the past seven years, a little boy that's never growing up. He has to grow up and become an adult. By the third or fourth episode, his character will be a lot different — mostly to gear up for the end of the year."

House: 4.03 Plot Synopsis...
HOUSE DIVIDES HIS REMAINING FELLOWSHIP CANDIDATES INTO TWO TEAMS FOR SOME HEALTHY COMPETITION
The final 10 fellowship candidates compete ferociously when House splits them into two teams by gender. They are assigned to diagnose and treat a wheelchair-bound man with muscular atrophy who is slowly suffocating. As the two teams are trying to one-up each other, complications arise when one team treats the patient but doesn't follow through to make sure their treatment was executed. While the students are busy with their assignment, House experiments on himself to see what happens in the moments when people hover between life and death. Meanwhile, Foreman runs his own team of fellows in his new job at another hospital, and resorts to using a very "House-like" treatment to help a patient in the "97 Seconds" episode of HOUSE airing Tuesday, Oct. 9 (9:0010:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (HOU-403) (TV-14 D, L)
Guest Cast: Brian Klugman as Stark; Anne Dudek as Amber; Olivia Wilde as Thirteen; Peter Jacobson as Taub; Kal Penn as Baidwan; Carmen Argenziano as Henry; Edi Gathegi as Cole; Andy Comeau as Brennan; Meera Simhan as Jody; Melinda Dahl as Twin; Caitlin Dahl as Twin; Charlie Hofheimer as Almore; Kathleen York as Dr. Schaffer; Mary Kate Schellhardt as Female Fellow; Reynaldo Rosales as Handsome Fellow; Douglas Spain as Latino Fellow; Bobbin Bergstrom as Nurse.
House: Latest from Kristin...
Olivia Wilde’s character is keeping something from us! While we find out in the second episode that another job candidate has a potentially fireable secret, Olivia swears to me her character’s secret is “bigger, way bigger!” So, what do you think? Is she an illegal organ harvester by night? House’s illegitimate love child?

House: 4.04 Spoilers...
The title has, as most House titles do, a double meaning. House keeps doing a Bosley/Charlie's Angels thing, calling the new fellows on the phone and being put on speaker phone. Also, the patient sees people who are dead, I guess these would qualify as guardian angels.
There is, much to my dismay, very little Wilson (and my source didn't really understand the scene he was in)
When House crosses the line trying to upset a new fellow, he gets punched
Cameron takes one of the new fellows under her wing and coaches him how to impress House (much like a 'guardian angel')

House: 4.02 Plot description...
"The Right Stuff"...
Our Patient of the Week is an Air Force pilot named Captain Cooper. She had a trippy, psychedelic experience in a simulator, crashing it. She blames it on a tech malfunction, but something’s very wrong with the way she’s seeing the world. She visits House and plops $50,000 in cash on his desk. She wants his help, but it all has to be hush-hush, because if NASA finds out she has medical issues, she will be booted from the space program. So House has to figure out what her problem is without charting anything or letting Cuddy know what he’s doing. Her problem is that she “hears with her eyes.”
House introduces Cooper to his hopefuls as Osama bin Laden and they start on her case, taking a medical history, doing tests, B&E, etc. Most of these are designed to introduce us to the hopefuls. The class starts with 40. Most of them are gone by the end of the episode. The most interesting of the remaining ones are Kai Penn, Carmen Argenziano, the black Mormon (don’t know the actor’s name) and another character I can describe only as the Anti-Cameron. House’s interactions with the hopefuls are, IMO, very entertaining, but I can’t do it justice here, so I won’t prattle on. He fires Kai Penn, who simply refuses to leave; he has an interesting religious debate with the Mormon, who turns out to be both thoughtful and secure in his beliefs; he figures out the Anti-Cameron’s game pretty quickly; and he seems impressed with Carmen Argenziano’s character, who is older than House. Turns out Argenziano isn’t even a doctor: He’s been auditing classes at a medical school for 30 years, and he knows a lot. This is his dream, and House doesn’t quite know what to do with him, so he lets him stay on as his assistant.
Throughout the episode, House thinks he sees Chase, then Cameron, then Foreman. He tells Wilson about Chase and Cameron, and Wilson tells him they are both working at the Mayo clinic in Arizona, so he must be hallucinating. It turns out he really did see Cameron and Chase, who are both working at the hospital. Cameron is senior attending in the ER and Chase is in surgical. Chase gives House a last-minute assist, and the hopefuls ask whether House is going to hire Chase instead of them. House looks at him a little questioningly, Chase shakes his head, and House assures the hopefuls that he loves them. He later finds Cameron in the ER and expresses his displeasure with her career choice. But he likes her new blonde hair, which he says makes her look like a hooker. Cameron is the one who told Osama to talk to House. Foreman has been working at NY Mercy, so it appears he really did hallucinate that. House doesn’t seem mad at Wilson on any real level.
Ultimately, Osama is diagnosed with a genetic disease. House really should tell NASA, but this is her dream, so he decides not to. He doesn’t even seem to know why he didn’t. Cameron thinks it’s because he’s not a dream-killer.

"97 Seconds"...
When a man in a wheelchair who fainted while crossing a street arrives at the hospital, House tells the 10 remaining candidates to divide themselves into teams. Meanwhile, a patient sticks a knife into a wall socket for reasons that intrigue House; and Foreman's new diagnostic team at Mercy Hospital in Manhattan faces a tough case.

Heroes: George Takei Interview...
When somebody gets thrown off a building, chances are they won't survive the fall. Even in the superhuman world of Heroes, this law of physics is true. Kinda. (Claire the Indestructible Cheerleader did leap from a skyscraper last season and has lived to tell the tale.) So one would naturally assume that Kaito Nakamura (George Takei) — the billionaire super-daddy of time-warping Hiro Nakamura (Masi Oka) — shuffled off to the big Hall of Justice in the sky following his deadly plunge in last night's season premiere of Heroes. Indeed, according to multiple sources in the Heroes camp, Kaito's a goner — the first victim of what could be a series of murders perpetrated by a phantom menace targeting the older generation of ordinary people with extraordinary abilities.
But when we caught up with George Takei for what was supposed to be an exclusive exit interview, the actor indicated that we were somewhat misinformed about the status of his Heroes employment, which returned Star Trek's legendary Mr. Sulu to the pop culture limelight, however fleetingly. ''Nothing is what it seems on the surface of Heroes,'' he told EW. When asked if this was wishful thinking on his part, or if he was trying to suggest that some kind of wicked twist looms in the future, Takei hinted that ''a larger plan may be at work,'' but declined to comment further. ''I haven't told you a thing,'' he said with impish glee. ''Chortle, chortle, chortle.''
Whether Takei's departure is permanent or temporary (our sources tell us that we will see Hiro's pop again...but only in flashbacks), we'll miss his energizing presence on the show. Takei, 70, plans to spend his time acting, doing the sci-fi/fantasy convention circuit, and continuing his widely praised work as an activist for Japanese-American and civil rights causes. EW had the chance to speak with Takei on a couple occasions during his Heroes tenure, including a summertime chat for our annual EW100 issue. The following Q&A comprises highlights from those conversations.
ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: How did you get hooked up with Heroes?
GEORGE TAKEI: I got an e-mail telling me that there was a show called Heroes that had a Japanese character who was a Star Trek fan, so naturally, I was intrigued. I started watching it and was enjoying it thoroughly when I got a call from my agent saying they wanted me to audition. The reason they wanted me to audition was they wanted [to see] if I really knew how to speak fluent Japanese. See, when actors are asked if can do something, we always say yes, and if we don't know it, we go out and learn it — we're all a bunch of bamboozlers that way.
But in this case, you didn't have to bamboozle anyone, right?
As it happens, I'm third-generation Japanese American, but my parents wanted me to speak with my grandparents, so they sent me to Saturday Japanese language school — which I hated as a child, because all the other kids were off playing. But as a result, it has opened a lot of doors in my life, including Heroes, which requires speaking Japanese throughout the entire scene, with subtitles translating for the audience. That this is even happening on television today really reflects the globalization of media and the growing sophistication of the American TV audience. This used to be something only for the art house crowd. My parents' good guidance got me cast in this role, as well. Everything one does with gusto, there will be a payoff at some point in life.
Over time, we've learned that your character plays an important part in the mythological backstory of Heroes. For example, we learned that he was a member of a secret organization of superpowered people, and that he was the one who entrusted Claire to Noah Bennett, a.k.a. Horn-Rim Glasses. Did you know they had this big vision for your character when you auditioned?
I had no idea. I thought it was father/son relationship thing — I'm a concerned father, a wealthy powerful magnate who had his way with everything in life except my son, my wayward, wastrel son. I thought that was going to be the relationship. I had no idea I was so deeply intertwined in the world of ordinary people with extraordinary powers.
In one memorable scene last season, your character taught Hiro how to fight with a samurai sword. How did you prepare for that?
GEORGE TAKEI: Well, if you remember that scene from the Star Trek episode ''Naked Time,'' when I whip off my shirt and accost everyone on the Enterprise with my fencing abilities, you'll know I have some on-screen experience with swords. Sword fighting has been a thing for me ever since I was a child, when I saw Errol Flynn in The Adventures of Robin Hood. l was absolutely transported by that. I came home, had my mother make me an outfit, my backyard became Sherwood Forest , my friend Martha was my Maid Marian, and my best friend Gary was my Friar Tuck. But samurai sword fighting was something I had not done, but fortunately, about two months before I got the Heroes job, I did an independent film called Ninja Cheerleaders, like Charlie's Angels with cheerleaders, and I was their ninja master. So I had to learn sword fighting for that. That was my preparation for being able to legitimately say, ''Yes, I can do Japanese sword fighting.''
You helped pave the way for other Japanese-American actors like Masi — do you take pride in his accomplishments?
Absolutely, I take great pride. I feel like I'm the bridge between the future of the '60s and the present of now. What Masi is experiencing is one of the things we've always lobbied for — more Asian-American faces in films and TV, more multidimensional depictions of Asians and Asian-Americans on film and TV. Masi is a personification of all we in the Asian community have been working for.
One of your Heroes co-stars, Zachary Quinto, has just been cast as Spock in J.J. Abrams' feature film reboot of Star Trek —
Yes, and I'm very happy for him. The physical resemblance he shares with Leonard Nimoy is uncanny. I told him, ''Now you know what you're going to look like in 40 years.''
J.J. has also cast Leonard in his Trek film. Might you be appearing in the film, too?
I wouldn't be too surprised if I am. [To be clear, Takei means this in a ''You never know what the future may hold''-kinda way, not in a coy, ''I may or may not be dead''-kinda way.]
Finish this sentence. ''I'm going to retire when...''
Never. The blessing of aging in Hollywood is that they're always going to need old codgers to play the old codger roles. My body will tell me one day when it's time to retire, but until then, I'm going to play the grandfather roles and the old codger roles. My grandfather passed away at 105. I intend to be around a long time.

Heroes: 2nd Season Premiere ratings...
Source: NBC
Heroes: Jeff Jenson on Season 2...
* Peter stars the season locked away, and with amnesia.
* Nathan, believing Peter dead, has descended into alcoholism and starts the season with a giant beard.
* In sunnier Costa Verde, Calif. (which doubtlessly neighbors Neptune and Sunnydale), Claire comes to date another superhero (played by Nick D’Agosto, who also played Jan’s assistant on “The Office”).
* Papa Noah Bennet is going after his old bosses. (Possibly with the help of Sylar??)
* Mohinder, Matt and Molly the little mutant-finder are all living together. (With Matt’s pregnant wife?)
* Jessica/Niki gets a virus that only affects superheroes, presumably the one that killed Mohinder’s sister and vexes Molly.
* Molly’s “worse than Sylar” boogieman is identified in 2.5.
* Hiro, who gets busy with a princess, may not return to the present until 2.8.
* Many questions about the season-on cliffhanger will be answered in 2.8, titled “Four Months Ago.”
* Sylar leaves the series around 2.16 to play Spock in the movies but is expected to return at season’s end.
* We’ll discover that several mutants share the same superpowers.
* Stephen Tobolowski (Ned from “Groundhog Day”) is introduced as a Primatech boss.
* The characters introduced in next April’s spinoff “Heroes: Origins” could join the mother show or be spun off into their own series. For those who overlooked Harry’s post on Saturday (or Kring’s announcement on G4’s “Attack fo the Show” earlier in the week), big-screen writer-directors John August (“The Nines”), Michael Dougherty (“Trick ‘r Treat”), Kevin Smith (“Clerks II”) and Eli Roth (“Hostel”) will be among those creating “Origins” episodes.
Read all of the Jensen’s EW story here.
Details we knew previously:
* Kristen Bell, whose character may or may not be a lightning lass like Gwen Raiden, is slated to join the show with episode five. She’s to hang around for at least 13 episodes.
* It looks like Primatech might be behind the virus that killed Mohinder’s sister.
* Dominic Keating (“Enterprise”) plays a hero involved with mobsters in Ireland.
* Dania Ramierez (who played the mutant Callisto in “X-Men: The Last Stand”) plays a northbound Central American criminal named Maya with a dangerous power that works with her superpowered twin Aldjandro (Puerto Rican/Dominican actor Shalim Ortiz). Kind of like Jayna and Zan on “Super Friends.”
* David Anders (“Alias”) plays Hiro’s ancient Japanese idol, Takezo Kensei, who turns out to be a blonde, blue-eyed assassin with a British accent and a drinking problem. His real name may or may not be Kane. His superpower is revealed in 2.2; is he immortal?
* Ando will find himself shuttling between New York and Japan, where Hiro is presumably leaving him clues from 400 years in the past.
* Dana Davis (“The Nine”) will play Micah’s hot superpowered cousin Monica, who - post-Katrina - works in a New Orleans fast-food restaurant. Nichelle Nichols (“Star Trek”) will play Monica’s grandmother.
* Claire’s new boyfriend, who has the same superpower as her biological dad, seems to have encountered Claire’s adoptive dad in the past.
* Claire gets a new California cheerleading rival, May, played by Janel Parrish (“Bratz”) and a lesbian cheerleader pal named April.
* Claire and Nikijessica will finally meet.
* Jessica Collins (“The Nine”) will play a superpowered Primatech thug named Sophie. She speaks French.
* Kristen Bell’s character, Elle, has ties to both the Bennet and Petrelli families.

Ausiello: Shameless plugs mean so much more when they come from someone else, so thanks for that, Becca. Here's your scoop reward: During November sweeps, Sarah and Joe will be surprised to discover that they're washing-machine quickie in Sunday's season premiere may've produced a baby!

Friday Night Lights: Latest from Ausiello...
Ausiello: What did I say about using language like that around me? Let this serve as your final warning. Next time, you'll be banished from AA for life. Back to the matter at hand, I too have seen FNL's season premiere, and while I'll admit the killer Landry-Tyra twist wasn't my favorite part of the episode, far be it from me to condemn an entire storyline based on one measly episode. The FNL writers haven't let me down yet, so I have no reason to believe they'll start now. Long story short: Ask me again in a few weeks. Interestingly, the man at the center of the controversial plot, Jesse Plemons, confessed to me during press tour that he was "worried" the incident might alienate Landry fans. "People have an attachment to Landry. In the final few episodes last season, we got to see a different side of him. Because underneath all of his [wise-cracking] comments, he's a good guy and a good friend and he believes in doing what's right. So it's gonna be interesting to redeem him after doing something like this."

Bionic Woman: Latest from Ausiello...
Ausiello: Yeah, but it's probably not the kind NBC wants out there. You already know that Friday Night Lights exec producer Jason Katims was summoned by NBC to help run Bionic Woman. Well, at the Emmys last week FNL's Scott Porter revealed that one of the drama's directors, Jonas Pate, was recently pulled off the show in the middle of an episode to go work on Bionic. At this rate, I wouldn't be surprised if by next week Adrianne Palicki is getting fitted for mechanized limbs. (BTW, an NBC rep confirms that Pate is now working on BW, but denies that he was "pulled off" FNL.)

30 Rock: Latest from Ausiello...
Ausiello: My cat is toilet-trained; you're gonna have to do better than that. Nonetheless, I will tell you that I've seen the Oct. 4 season premiere, and it is high-sterical. The sight gags related to Jenna's SWG (summer weight gain) are worth the price of admission alone. And I nearly coughed up my Snappletini when special guest star Jerry Seinfeld threatened to buy NBC and turn it into a *a** *ry*** superstore. I will also tell you that a casting call put out for an upcoming episode promises yet another killer sight gag: The show is looking for a Liz look-alike who'll turn out to be (Spoiler alert) the mother of her boy-toy date.

ER: Latest from Ausiello...
Ausiello: A family death will reveal something very sad about one of the staffers in the Oct. 11 episode. Also, Neela turns out to be the worst nanny in the world when she watches baby Joe for Abby. Thankfully, she gets an unexpected assist from Dubenko.
Question: Any news on Shane West returning to ER? — Mandy
Ausiello: Nope, but another beloved County General alum will (kinda-sorta) be making a cameo this season: Jerry Markovic! No, Abraham Benrubi isn't leaving Men in Trees, but he gets a fun little shoutout in the aforementioned Oct. 11 episode. Here's the sitch: When the front desk gets backed up, Sam tells Frank to call Jerry 'cause "maybe he's ready to come back to work." Frank replies, "You didn't hear? He moved to Alaska... slinging pitchers of beer outside Alaska."

Gossip Girl: Latest from Ausiello...
Ausiello: We'll soon be meeting Blair's dad, who, according to the casting breakdown, is "a Cary Grant charmer with impeccable taste and manners." Translation: He's gay! He also resides in Paris with his model boyfriend. Speaking of Blair, in the Oct. 3 episode she gets a tip that her frienemy Serena may have spent time in rehab during her mysterious year-long hiatus. And the name of the facility should ring a bell to many an Aushole: The Ostroff Treatment Center.

The Doctor and his new companion Donna are set to travel back in time to the Roman Empire for the fourth series of Doctor Who.In one of the most ambitious episodes to date, The Doctor, played by David Tennant and Donna (Catherine Tate) arrive in Pompeii in AD 79, on the eve of the historic eruption of Mount Vesuvius.
The Time Lord and his companion are posed with an immediate dilemma; should they warn the residents of Pompeii of the forthcoming catastrophe or leave them to fend for themselves?
"Arriving in Pompeii marks the start of another exciting adventure for the Doctor and Donna," said Doctor Who's Executive Producer and Head Writer, Russell T Davies. "Donna is stunned to find herself in the midst of history's most famous volcanic eruption. Viewers can expect many more ambitious storylines and a whole host of guest stars in 2008."
The Thick of It actor Peter Capaldi guest stars as Caecillius. He's joined by Quadrophenia and Rose and Maloney actor Phil Davis as Lucius. Further guest stars include Howards Way and Born and Bred Actress Tracey Childs, who plays Metella.
The filming of the episode took place at Cinecitta studios in Rome, which the Doctor Who team expertly transformed into Pompeii for a week of filming in September of this year.
